A pioneering company

The Compagnie des Wagons-Lits is proud to have invented most forms of train on-board services, for both day and night trains: from the dining car on the Orient Express to the catering on board high-speed trains, from the minibar service on conventional trains to the meals service at seat, from the bar car to the self-service, part of the daily travel universe designed, produced and implemented for the first time by our company.
And the innovations have been coming for 130 years now !

Quality procedure

The Compagnie des Wagons-Lits has implemented for many years now a program to improve quality in order to become the first train on-board services company certified ISO 9001 (quality) in Europe and ISO 14001 (environmental) in Austria, Spain, France and Italy.

On board day trains

On board day trains, the Compagnie des Wagons-Lits offers a choice of catering services adapted to the nature of the trip, the expectations of consumers and the local culture :

   • Vending machines

On board night trains

On board night trains, the Compagnie des Wagons-Lits provides passengers with a welcome and services to ensures a restful night. Compagnie personnel dispense information and special attention :

   • Reception at the station
   • Catering service in the dining car or the compartment
   • Offer of beverages and breakfast, and snacks (in the compartment or dining car, according to the destination)
   • Wake up call at the requested time

Provisioning centers

The Compagnie des Wagons-Lits manages the provisioning centers preparing and delivering the train on board catering products.
